FencePost Support
FencePost tracks your time at every job site automatically: drop a pin, and arriving starts your time, leaving stops it. Send a clean timesheet - text, PDF, or image - to whoever pays you. No account, no subscription, and your hours never leave your phone.
Common questions
Do I have to turn location on?
No. FencePost is a complete manual tracker with location off - tap Start when you arrive and Stop when you leave. Location access only adds the automatic part, and you can revoke it any time without losing anything.
How accurate is automatic tracking?
Arrivals are usually noticed within seconds. Exits can lag a few minutes - iOS waits to be sure you actually left rather than briefly stepping past the line. Day-level rounding (which you control in Settings, and which every report discloses) absorbs most of that lag.
Where is my data?
On your phone, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server. Settings > Backup > Export Archive produces a complete copy of your record in plain JSON, yours to keep anywhere.
Why is a session marked (M), (E), or (A)?
M = entered manually. E = times edited. A = auto-closed at 18 hours. FencePost keeps the record honest: anything that is not an automatic punch is flagged in the app and on every report.
How do I restore FencePost Pro on a new phone?
Settings > FencePost Pro > Restore Purchases. Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple account and shares with Family Sharing.
How do I move my record to a new phone?
It travels automatically with your normal device backup or transfer. For an extra copy, Export Archive on the old phone and Import Archive on the new one.
Something looks wrong with my hours.
Every report states the rounding used, and raw punch times are never altered. Check Settings > Rounding, then Settings > How FencePost records time for exactly how the math works.
